Support Request: Windows Update Has Stopped AutoStart

Description

Microsoft has released KB4537820 and it has installed on Windows POSReady7 - AKA Windows 7 embedded. Now SiteKiosk will not auto start, it still logs into the SiteKiosk user account, but the application no longer starts. The machines were running fine up until this happened overnight, they were set to auto start with shell replacement mode. The only change are the updates released by MS 11th 12th Feb 2020. We have tried resetting the auto start and re-installing sitekiosk. Please can you help?

Hello,
try the workaround to delete and recreate the SiteKiosk user without applying the security defaults.

To do so, enter the following commands in the command line running as Administrator:
1. cd %SiteKioskPath% (e.g. cd "c:\Program Files (x86)\SiteKiosk")
2. systemsecurity /uninstall

Then open the folder “C:\Users” with the explorer and check if all User folders with the name SiteKiosk are deleted (if not, delete them manually).
Then continue at the command line to create the SiteKiosk user again:
3. systemsecurity /install

Thanks for the quick response, both solutions worked.
I assume your patch will come in for the form of a new version of the application, meaning we'll have to buy new copies to replace the old?

Hello,

we try to release a general type of patch and also include the fix in a new SiteKiosk version. If you want to use the updated SiteKiosk version and are beyond the 1 year free update period you would need to buy an update.
